The History of Chapel Studio.

Chapel Studio was established in 1973. Its founders Alfred Fisher and Peter Archer brought to the Studio extensive knowledge of traditional craftsmanship acquired at the Whitefriars Studios which closed in 1980 after 300 years of continuous production. In 1975 Robert Holloway joined the studio, a second generation Stained Glass craftsman also from the Whitefriars glassworks. Robert's expertise was on the practical side of the craft, specializing in the cutting of glass, leading up of panels and installation of windows. These skills were a crucial addition to the fledgling Chapel Studio as it was being established in its early years and perfectly complemented the glass painting skills of Peter Archer and the design skills of Alfred Fisher. In 1980 Robert became a partner with Alfred and Peter. Over the following decades the Studio grew in both size, and reputation. Alfred became a leading authority on Medieval glass and worked with other studios committed to excellence in Stained Glass to establish a body of accreditation that recognized skills and abilities within the industry to undertake various categories of work. He also advised the National Trust on their Stained Glass. Robert sits on the committee for the Stained Glass Repository under the auspices of the Worshipful Company of Glaziers. In 1993 Alfred retired and in 1999 Peter also retired. Now Robert is the sole owner of Chapel Studio and with the assistance of his team of skilled artists and craftsmen, is steering the Studio into the twenty first century.
